We are really pleased to let you all know that we now offer hearing care services within our branches. The services are with an excellent provider called The Hearing Care Partnership. We did think long and hard about inviting someone into our practices, after all they reflect on our service - they had to share the same values as us, look after their clients and offer the best hearing solutions. I’m pleased to say that The Hearing Care Partnership ticks all those boxes and the initial feedback from clients has been 100% positive.
Our new audiologist, Faye, is fantastic. She is friendly, warm, knowledgeable, professional and she genuinely cares about helping people regain their hearing. She has fitted in to become part of the team already. We all had some training with Faye, and to be honest we learnt a lot!
Did you know? For every line up the vision chart you go on your eye test, the chance of having a hearing loss increases by 18%.
It can be difficult to recognise the signs of hearing problems because age-related hearing loss is usually a gradual process - just like with vision changes. It isn’t painful or physically uncomfortable in any way, it’s simply caused by natural wear and tear on the hair cells of the inner ear.
One thing that surprised me was that some people give up on hearing aids because they can hear too much! Faye explained this is because you can hear sounds that you haven’t heard for so long that your brain doesn’t know what to do with them. These are usually background sounds like birds tweeting! This can be successfully managed with counselling and turning up different ranges of the hearing aid over time.
All of the hearing work carried out is on a private basis from wax removals to hearing aid fitting. The Hearing Care Partnership do offer complimentary full hearing assessments, so if you feel you would benefit from having your hearing tested and your ears examined then give us a call at your closest branch and get booked in for your check up.
