"So this is Christmas, And what have you done?"

22 December 2020

Well not as much as we’d hoped to this year that’s for sure! And what a year it’s been! None of us would have thought that this would ever happen; national lockdowns, holidays cancelled, local restrictions, shops, restaurants and pubs shut.

It’s been a hard year for everyone, I don’t want to reflect on the negativity of this year, but instead I want to look to the positives that we have found here at Village Optician. We have had to change the way we work. From limiting the numbers in store at any time, to different techniques for examination, we have found ways to keep working in a way that is safest for everyone. Many of the things we have done have been really well received by you, our clients. One of the favourites has been our new glasses collection appointment. It’s great – it means we know exactly who is coming in for a collection and at what time; we are prepared, rather than it being a surprise as to who may come in and when. You don’t have to wait around until someone is free to do your fitting and collection, you have the specific time slot, and that time is yours with no interruptions. This is just one of the many things we’ve done differently that we are going to keep long after this is all over and done with, as they are improvements to the way we work.

One thing Stephen and I want to do is to say is Thank You. Thank you to our clients who have come to see us this year, it was great to see you and we look forward to seeing more of you next year! And thank you to our staff who have adapted to new working conditions and kept going with smiles on their faces.

All that is left to say is I hope you can all have a Merry Christmas – In the timeless words of Mr John Lennon,

And so this is Christmas, I hope you have fun!
